Prior to joining HSUHK, Professor Trevor Siu had accumulated substantial professional and academic experience in the information and communication technology industry, as well as in the tertiary education sector. His professional journey began after completing his education in the UK, where he earned his BSc, MSc, and finally a PhD from the University of Essex. His initial role was as a software engineer in the Cambridge Science Park, after which he moved to British Telecom to work in their research laboratories.

Professor Siu later embarked on his academic career by undertaking research and development work at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He subsequently joined Chu Hai College of Higher Education as a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Over more than a decade of service, he played a transformative role in its growth and long-term development in tertiary education. This development involved going through stringent rounds of review exercises to meet the accreditation standards set by the HKCAAVQ.

As a professional, Professor Siu is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. His areas of research are diverse, ranging from the study of information technology to TCM informatics, with further interests in new media, digital communication, and social media network analysis.
