Abstract:
Supported by the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) of the Education Bureau, the Centre for Asian Languages and Cultures (CALC) has been up and running at HSUHK since early 2020. Dedicated to arousing our students’ interest in Asian languages and cultures, and fostering their awareness of the development and potential in Asia, CALC is having a wide range of deliverables such as organising preparation courses for languages tests, taster courses, e-learning platform, seminars, workshops and exhibitions. It is hoped that students could overcome the barriers of Asian languages and cultures when seeking new opportunities in an unfamiliar country.
Dr Rami Chan, Director of CALC, will share with us noteworthy details and information regarding his team’s QESS project, ranging from the early stage of problem identification, idea generation, proposal preparation, budgeting, brief checklist for application and logistics for establishment. In braving the adversity amid the unexpected situations associated with COVID-19, Rami will also share the lessons learnt including problem solving, reporting, project and time management.
