Arts at HSMC presented the award-winning dark comedy The Last Supper by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (HKRep) at the Auditorium on 28 Apr 2017. The play drew an audience of over 160 guests, staff and students. To promote the play, Canteen Rendezvous at Block M offered “Pre-show Supper” with a special discount to the audience.
The actors Lui Si-lan (the mother) and Lau Shau-ching (the son), Director Fong Chun-kit, Playwright Matthew Cheng and the HKRep production team staged the 101th run of The Last Supper at HSMC. A rare union over supper between mother and son turned out to unfold their respective suicidal plots. Full of black humour, the play brought out the sorrow and despair of Hong Kong grass roots and provoked critical thinking of the situation.
Provost Gilbert Fong; Dean Thomas Luk of the School of Humanities and Social Science; Mr Chan Kin-bun, Executive Director of HKRep; Ms Fung Wai-hang, Assistant Artistic Director of HKRep; together with the Director, the Playwright and the actors of The Last Supper, hosted the “Post-show talk” and shared their theatrical experiences, ideas and thoughts about the play with the audience.
