The Graduation Ceremony 2021 of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) was held on 8 and 9 December at The College Hall, Yuen Campus. The Ceremony was divided into five sessions. Degrees were conferred on over 1,700 graduates. Ms Diana Cesar, Chairman of the Board of Governors of HSUHK, and Dr Moses Cheng, Chairman of Council, were invited to officiate at the Ceremony. Board and Council members were also invited to share the precious moment with the graduates.
Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, expressed his warmest congratulations to all graduates. He also encouraged the graduates to review their own key qualities and enhance job-specific knowledge and skills so as to adapt to a fast-changing world and achieve their life goals. He emphasised the importance of empowering oneself with the “5P” attitudes and the “5C” transferrable competencies. The “5P” attitudes were Professionalism, Passion, Positiveness, Perseverance, and People-orientation. The “5C” transferable competencies were Critical thinking, Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Continuous active learning.
Ms Diana Cesar and Dr Moses Cheng encouraged graduates to enjoy every twist and turn, and to be confident in their abilities to handle all eventualities. Never stop learning, exploring and challenging themselves, and they will be able to achieve even more.
The 2020-21 HSUHK Teaching Excellence Awards were also presented at the Graduation Ceremony to distinguished teachers who had demonstrated excellent teaching performance and contribution to the continuous improvement in pedagogy. A total of 5 awardees were selected this year, including Dr Lawrence Lei from the Department of Accountancy, Dr Kaylee Kong from the Department of Management, Dr Christine Choy from the Department of Art and Design, Dr Heidi Wong from the Department of English, and Dr George Ho from the Department of Supply Chain and Information Management.
