Arts@HSUHK presented ‘The Echo of Nature – Exhibition on Japanese Pressed Flower Art by Dr Serina Ha’ at the G/F Art Gallery of Lee Quo Wei Academic Building from 30 September to 30 October 2021. The opening reception of the exhibition was held on 29 September. Professor Gilbert Fong, Chairman of Arts@HSUHK Working Committee, delivered his welcome speech, and Dr Serina Ha introduced the exhibition and her art pieces. Guests included explorer Dr Rebecca Lee; Mr Salah Hamdan Alsaif, Consul General of the State of Kuwait for Hong Kong; Mr Boris Ezdrin, Vice Consul of the Russian Federation in HKSAR; Ms Ayu Saptaningtyas, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in HKSAR; and Hong Kong fencer Mr Ryan Choi.
Pressed flower craft is the art of using dried and pressed flowers, petals, leaves and other organic materials and other botanical materials to create an entire picture from these natural elements by using a variety of pressing techniques. About 20 pieces of Dr Ha’s artwork were exhibited, including her award-winning works in international competitions. The exhibition attracted many visitors including students, staff and members of the public to appreciate Dr Ha’s exquisite artwork.
