The annual SCOM Awards Presentation Ceremony (2022-23), organised by the School of Communication (SCOM), was held on 30 March 2023. Four important academic awards, namely the Dean’s List, the Honour Roll, the Best Progress awards and the Most Improved awards, were awarded to over 130 students with outstanding academic performance. Additionally, the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK and the China Daily HK donated six scholarships to top students from the 2021-22 academic year.
Professor Scarlet Tso, Dean of School of Communication, Ms Clara Chew, President of the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK, and other SCOM Professors presented the awards. In addition to members of the Rotary Club, awardees’ friends and family joined to celebrate the occasion and the awardees.
Ms Lau Cheuk-yan of the Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Honours) (BJC) programme, Mr Lee Yuen-chau, and Mr Fong Ho-ting of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology (BA-CMCT) programme were selected as this year’s recipients of the Rotary Club scholarships and received $10,000 each for their outstanding academic performance and distinguished services.
Ms Wong Hin-ching, Mr Leung Ka-ying and Ms Yim Tsz-yan of the BJC programme were the recipients of three new China Daily scholarships worth HK$10,000, for their academic performance and excellent writing skills.
Alongside the annual ceremony, the School also took the opportunity to showcase the artistic talent of students. A BJC student and a team of BA-CMCT students performed for the audience, singing the Cantonese song “凡星”and the English song “Living in the Moment”.
The School congratulates all the awardees and wishes them success in their future endeavours.
