To express our warmest welcome to the parents of our newly admitted students, the Student Affairs Office organised the President’s Reception for Parents on 22 October to keep parents abreast of the University’s latest development and campus life.
Bringing together over 150 parents, students and staff members, the Reception began with President Simon S M Ho’s welcoming address and an introduction of the University’s latest development, followed by a graduate sharing session. Parents were impressed by Mr Tiger Ip (BBA)’s sharing of his fruitful campus life at HSUHK.
President Ho said that by adopting the unique “Liberal + Professional” education model, the learning experience at HSUHK is characterised by small class teaching and close teacher-student relations. The University puts quality teaching and students’ all-around development as its highest priorities, aiming at nurturing young talents with leadership skills with a caring heart. HSUHK is the first self-financed higher education institution in Hong Kong to adopt a Residential College system, creating a “living and learning” environment and providing students with holistic learning experience.
A special session – “Chatting with the Senior Management” was arranged for parents to mingle with the senior management and staff members in a friendly atmosphere. Several information booths about Residential Colleges, career planning, student exchange, physical education, student development and student finance were set up for parents to have an overview of the supporting services available at HSUHK. This session was concluded with the delightful performance by the student-led cultural group, HSUHK Sinfonietta.
In addition, parents also had the opportunities to chat with academic staff members for a better understanding of the curriculum and enrichment opportunities available for students. To conclude the day, campus tours were presented by the Student Ambassadors, leading parents’ visit to S H Ho Academic Building, Lee Shau Kee Complex and the award-winning green buildings.
Parents interact with the senior management, staff members and students at the campus life fair.
