In appreciation of the donation from the Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation (the Foundation) to support the development of entrepreneurship and innovation at HSMC, a Naming Ceremony of the Wu Jieh Yee Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (WUCIE) cum the Establishment of the Alumni Entrepreneurs Network (the Network) was held on 12 Oct 2018. Officiated by President Simon Ho; Mr Jason Wu, Governor of the Foundation; Mr Dicky Yuen, representative of the Network and Dr Thomas Man, Director of WUCIE, the ceremony was well attended by HSMC management, academic and administrative staff, alumni and students.
In his welcome remarks, President Ho expressed his heartiest gratitude to the Foundation for its generous support. Meanwhile, Mr Wu hoped that WUCIE could nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among HSMC students who could in turn contribute to the society. Mr Yuen expressed that the Network is a wonderful platform for alumni to share with the students their first-hand experience gained from their start-up business. Dr Man encouraged the students and the alumni to capitalise on the resources of WUCIE and participate in its activities in order to put what they have learned into practice.
Located on the ground floor of Academic and Administration Building (Block N), WUCIE provides start-up related courses and features a co-working area for aspiring entrepreneurs to work on their innovative ideas, and is a place for them to share their ideas with investors and experienced entrepreneurs. The Centre is equipped with a 3D printer and various presentation and information technology facilities for students to implement their innovative ideas.
