In appreciation of the genuine donation from Mr Ho Tak Sum in support of the construction of a new Academic Building and its long-term development, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) held the Naming Ceremony of “八正道坊” on 21 June 2023. The officiating guests were Mr and Mrs Ho Tak Sum, Managing Director of Pong Tak Realty Co., Ltd.; Governor Mr Martin Tam; and President Professor Simon S. M. Ho.
In his welcome remarks, President Simon Ho conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Mr Ho Tak Sum for his recognition and encouragement of HSUHK’s development. The University will continue to strive for excellence by offering a unique “Liberal + Professional” education model to nurture outstanding talents with critical thinking, innovative minds, caring attitudes, moral values and social responsibility for the community, making contributions to Hong Kong, the country and the world.
During his speech, Mr Ho Tak Sum recognised HSUHK’s educational philosophy and praised the University’s small-class teaching feature which facilitates close interaction between students and professors. This not only imparts professional knowledge but also effectively instils positive values in students through teaching by precepts and examples. With vast opportunities for mutual learning, students can develop their skills and knowledge while cultivating a broad and practical outlook.
“八正道坊” is located inside the Library on the first floor of S H Ho Academic Building on the North Campus. It is comprised of an array of eight study carrels, providing students a comfortable learning space for daily self-study and group discussions.
