The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) is profoundly saddened by the passing of Dr Vincent Cheng Hoi-chuen, and extends its deepest condolences to his family.
Dr Cheng’s lifelong commitment to service and ardent support to local education had led him to take on many public responsibilities, among which was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hang Seng School of Commerce (HSSC), the predecessor of HSUHK. During his tenure in this role from 1998 to 2005, Dr Cheng steered the Board and set the most important direction of future development for HSSC by transforming it into a four-year degree-granting institution, thus laying the long-term foundation for the School to become today’s HSUHK. Dr Cheng was also HSUHK’s Doctor of Social Science, honoris causa.
The University expresses its deepest gratitude to Dr Cheng for his contributions over the years to Hong Kong, and to the higher education sector and HSUHK in particular. He will be remembered and missed.
