To sharpen competitive edges of students in the labour market, a workshop on Intelligent Career Planning was held on 23 Mar 2017 by the Department of Management. Ms Christine Choy, Director and Chief Consultant of Choy’s Human Resource Consultancy Ltd, was invited as the guest speaker.
With over 30 years of experience in the human resources management profession, Ms Choy guided participants on how to establish their unique positioning and introduced to them ten career commandments. Prior to the workshop, participants completed a personality and career test to identify their personality type. As Ms Choy mentioned, “a fulfilling life starts with a career that suits one’s characters”. From the real-life stories she shared, participants also learnt about the importance of career planning and different strategies to stand out from the crowd during job application. They also understood that professional grooming reflected career values and personalities. At the workshop, participants presented their personal branding statements which featured their skills, personalities, passion and possible contribution to potential employers.
At the end of the workshop, Ms Choy gave her advice on college life and wished participants a fulfilling life.
