“Always by Your Side”, a project under the HSUHK Peer Mentor Scheme in the academic year 2017/18, clinched the Best Practice Award among 11 tertiary institution student teams in the WeCare Fund 2017 for Student-Initiated Youth Suicide Prevention Projects which encouraged students to promote mental health on campus and raise public awareness of mental health. The winning team of HSUHK was awarded HK$30,000 from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention of the University of Hong Kong. The activities under the “Always by Your Side” Project were fully supported by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and guided by Dr Cheung Pui Sze, Lecturer of Department of Social Science, as well as Dr Dacon Tai and Ms Rita Yip, Counsellors of SAO.
With the awarded HK$30,000 as seed fund, HSUHK Peer Mentor Scheme has launched another project “Hands in ‘Hang’” in the academic year 2018/19 to extend the love and care to the community. Under the project, a range of activities will be organised including cooking classes, art jamming and cheering stations during examination period.
