A group of students from the Patrick S C Poon Amity College at HSUHK won second runners-up in the “3 Assistive Devices Design Competition” organised by the Jockey Club Georntechnology and Smart Ageing in Place Project on 19 October 2024.
Team members comprised four BBA year 2 students, Ma Aozun and Liang Haoen (Finance and Banking), Gu Zichen (Corporate Governance and Compliance), and Huang Yu (Financial Analysis and Fintech).
Their innovative smart watch design, a device that is specifically tailored for elders with dementia, allowing carers to locate their position in real-time. The watch also features a fall detection system, which immediately sends an emergency alert to carers if an incident occurs. This practical and thoughtful solution demonstrated the group’s deep understanding of the needs of dementia patients and their caregivers.
