8 September 2021
As the pandemic situation in Hong Kong has been gradually subsiding, the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) resumed face-to-face teaching and learning on 8 September 2021. Students returned to school to experience fantastic and vibrant campus life. Senior management of HSUHK gave a warm welcome to students on the first day of the new academic year and shared with them cheering packs. Handa, the mascot of the University, brought joyful moments by taking photos with students.
There are more than 6,000 students, including 1,800 freshmen, studying at HSUHK this year. President Simon S M Ho; Professor Y V Hui, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research); Dr Tom Fong, Vice-President (Organisational Development); Professor Scarlet Tso, Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Affairs); Ms Antonia Yeung, Associate Vice-President (Development and Campus Services) and Ms Esther Lee, Director of Student Affairs gave cheering packs to staff and students on campus, wishing them a fruitful and healthy campus life. The pack included a cheering card, energy bar and sanitizing product.
“After a long period of silent hallways and empty classrooms, it is a delight today to welcome all of our students back into the campus. Embarking on an exciting learning journey, I hope you all make good use of the University’s ample resources and facilities, proactively interact with your teachers and peers, and unleash your potential,” said President Ho.
Different departments and student organisations joined hands to hold activities to welcome the students, injecting new energy into campus life. In addition to delivering cheering packs, the Students’ Union of HSUHK hosted a three-day “F2F Orientation Promotional Exhibition” on the covered platform on the 3rd floor of M Building. 15 student organisations set up exhibition booths for the students to enrol various activities onsite. The Student Affairs Office also arranged a booth nearby the exhibition to offer special souvenirs to the students. Students could also visit the promotion booths of the cultural groups and other student teams along the poolside area (2/F, M Building) and the G/F of S. H. Ho Academic Building.
