The HSUHK Professional Mentorship Scheme (PMS) is an annual signature programme of the Students Affairs Office, which aims to provide valuable opportunities for HSUHK students to seek career advice and guidance from mentors who are seasoned professionals and senior executives from different industries. This year, the Scheme has recruited 60+ mentors from the fields of accounting, HR, banking, finance, education, information technology, logistics, marketing, administration, etc., to offer personalised guidance to 100+ HSUHK mentees from January to August 2023.
With the recession of the pandemic situation, the Kick-off Ceremony of the Scheme has resumed to face-to-face mode after 2 years and was held on 14 January 2023 at the Auditorium of the University to connect our PMS 2023 mentors and mentees for the first time.
At the Ceremony, Prof. Hon Chan, Vice-President (Learning and Student Experience) and Ms. Esther Lee, Director of Student Affairs expressed their sincere gratitude for the unfailing support from our strong pool of professional mentors, and encouraged students to actively participate in the Scheme.
Two seasoned mentors, Mr. Sidney Leung and Ms. Tammy Yip enlightened the participants with their insightful mentoring tips. Also, two mentees – Ms. Karen Tam and Ms. Christy Ng, shared with the audience their growth and learnings along their PMS journey in the past 2 – 3 years.
To deliver special thanks to our long-serving mentors, the University has specially prepared a wooden certificate to mentors who have served in the Scheme for 10 or more years. Also, to express the sincere gratitude to all mentors, each mentor of the Scheme has received a specially designed PMS wooden stand. Every year, PMS mentees will present a gift card to their mentors. It is hoped that our mentors can keep the cards in the wooden stand as a way to capture their memorable mentorship experience throughout the years.
A networking session was arranged after the Ceremony, where mentors and mentees got the precious chance to network with each other and exchange ideas and thoughts. A photo booth was also installed in the venue to allow mentors and mentees to take instant photos together.
The HSUHK Professional Mentorship Scheme 2023 is off to a great start and we wish all mentors and mentees a fulfilling PMS experience in the year ahead!
