HSUHK mourns Dr Michael Suen Ming-yeung

23 October 2024

The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) is profoundly saddened by the passing of Dr Michael Suen Ming-yeung, an Honorary University Fellow of HSUHK, and extends its deepest condolences to his family.

Dr Suen was a well-versed government official, having served in various departments in top-ranking roles, including Secretary for Education. He was forward-thinking about the education issues in Hong Kong, and made significant contributions to the development of higher education during his tenure. In particular, he gave much support to Hang Seng School of Commerce during its transformation into the degree-awarding Hang Seng Management College (HSUHK’s predecessor). The achievements of HSUHK today are attributed to the educational policies and favourable environment Dr Suen established during that time.

The University expresses its deepest gratitude to Dr Suen for his contributions over the years to Hong Kong, and to the higher education sector and HSUHK in particular. He will be remembered and missed.
