HSUHK becomes the first institution in the Greater China Region to join the prestigious global initiative, the Climate-U Network. The Network, initiated by University College London in the UK, unites universities globally to address the pressing climate crisis. Other members include institutions from Brazil, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, South Africa, Uganda, and the UK.

Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, stated, “HSUHK is truly honoured to join the Climate-U Network. This partnership extends our recent success in hosting the Alliance of Asian Liberal Arts Universities Annual Presidents’ Forum, which focused on leadership in sustainability. It also reaffirms our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, as evidenced by our recent signing of a joint statement together with over 180 universities worldwide. We are dedicated to enhancing climate action, promoting sustainability, and empowering our students to become proactive leaders in addressing the challenges of our time.”

Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) said that as part of the Climate-U Network, HSUHK will engage in collaborative research, share best practices, and participate in joint initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change. He added “This membership not only enhances our institution’s environmental initiatives but also positions HSUHK as a vital player in the global sustainability movement.”
