27 July 2024

HSUHK Honours Academy (HA) and the Scout Association of Hong Kong, North Kwai Chung District Headquarters, hosted “Sports for Future” on 27 July 2024. Coinciding with the Paris Olympics, the event aimed to promote the Olympic spirit and multiculturalism through game booths, where participants learned various sports techniques. Elite Hong Kong athletes and charitable representatives shared inspiring stories about how sports transformed their lives. Attendees also watched live broadcasts of Hong Kong’s Olympic matches. Nearly 150 people, including disadvantaged community members, individuals with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and Scouts attended the event.

Ms Antonia Yeung, HSUHK’s Associate Vice-President (Development and Campus Services) and Mr Nigel Yip, Acting District Commissioner of North Kwai Chung District, Scout Association of Hong Kong, delivered speeches on the role of sports in social integration and personal development. HSUHK President Simon Ho addressed participants via video and encouraged active involvement. For the event, HA students designed a campus orientation activity and managed the HA booth, helping participants learn about HSUHK’s campus and resources. They also facilitated a sharing session with elite athletes, encouraging public engagement through sports.
