Professor Simon S M Ho, President of HSUHK, said that the Parent’s Reception is a traditional event of the University. He said, “We are one of the few local universities that organise such an event to proactively communicate with parents. Through this event, we are able to deepen our understanding of students’ family conditions and enhance communication with parents to further support students’ learning experience.”
President Ho added that this event has been highly fruitful and effective. Some parents shared that their confidence in HSUHK’s education had been strengthened after visiting the campus. A parent from the Mainland raised concerns regarding their child’s academic challenges, and had ease of mind after realising that the University offers diverse forms of assistance for students in enhancing their language and other skills. President Ho also encouraged parents to exhibit greater care and support towards their children, fostering their resilience and ability to overcome challenges through collaborative efforts.
President Ho emphasised that HSUHK is committed to providing all-round student services. Upon enrolment, new students are offered an extensive supporting network and a comprehensive caring system to address their academic and mental well-being needs. These initiatives include the provision of dedicated academic mentors and peer mentors, which aim to assist students in adapting to campus life. Through its unique residential college system, small class teaching approach, close teacher-student relationship, extracurricular activities that enhance physical and mental health, and comprehensive counselling services, HSUHK provides personalised care and support to students, creating a supportive and nurturing environment that values every student, fostering a healthy and enjoyable campus life.
