The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK)’s “HSUHK FunD Virtual Run”, a social engagement cum running event has been scheduled for the period between 18 December 2021 and 2 January 2022. To launch the event, a Kick-off Ceremony was held on the Yuen Campus on 18 December 2021, officiating by Council Chairman Dr Moses Cheng; President Simon S M Ho; Professor Roy Chung, Event Advisory Committee Co-Chairman and Founder of Bright Future Charitable Foundation (the “Principal Supporter”); Dr Jacky Cheung, Event Advisory Committee Co-Chairman, Council Member and alumus; Dr Patrick Poon, Governor and Event Advisory Committee Honourary Advisor; Dr Rose Lee, Former Board Chairman; Professor Francis Yuen; Ms Agnes Lo, the representative of The S. H. Ho Foundation (the “Power Supporter”); Professor Y V Hui, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research); Dr Tom Fong, Vice-President (Organisational Development); Mr Alex Wong, the representative of Hang Seng Bank (the “Energy Supporter”); Mr Li Pau Cheung (the “Energy Supporter”); Mr Alan Li, Chairman of TK Group (the “Energy Supporter”); and Mr Dicky Yuen, Chairman of HSUHK Alumni Association.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr Moses Cheng expressed his thanks to over 650 participants of the virtual event which comprised the general public, corporate organisations, NGOs, alumni, students and staff, secondary school students. He believed the participation of all walks of life signified the University was widely recognised among the community.
Professor Roy Chung said that many challenges were overcome along the journey of organising such an event. He expressed his gratitude to every supporter and participant for their continued donation support even under the influence of the pandemic.
Dr Jacky Cheung pointed out this event was a realisation of the University’s motto “Erudition and Perseverance” – apart from the passing of knowledge, there are more to be passed down through the generations. He looked forward to future university events to connect with more alumni and family.
At his appreciation remarks, President Simon Ho thanks all supporters and participants for their donation in support of the University’s long-term development. He anticipated future support and valuable advice from the public, helping the University achieve new heights.
The Ceremony featured a treadmill team relay competition of 15 teams, formed by President Simon Ho, Event Advisory Committee Co-Chairmen and members; HSUHK management, supporting organisations of the event, alumni, students and staff of the University.
After the exciting competition, the triumph was taken by The S. H. Ho Foundation Team 2, while HSUHK Lee Yick Hoi Lun Mosaic College & Patrick S C Poon Amity College Team and The S. H. Ho Foundation Team 1 won the first and second runner-up respectively. The gold, silver and bronze-winning medals were presented by Professor Roy Chung and Dr Jacky Cheung at the award presentation session. In addition, Dr Moses Cheng presented the “Council Chairman Cup –Most Supportive Residential College, Most Supportive School, and Top Alumni Referral Award” to S H Ho Wellness College; School of Business; and Dr Eden Chow respectively.
Many guests attended the short leisure walk around the beautiful and greeny HSUHK campus; while the others had some new experience at the sports workshop at the “Fun FunD Zone”.
