19 October 2024
The Institute of Knowledge Exchange (IKE) at HSUHK and the Hong Kong Institute of Christian Counselors launched the “Community Mental Health Ambassadors” programme on 19 October 2024. The programme aims to raise mental health awareness in the community and train ambassadors with basic counseling skills to promote care and support.
Dr John Leung, Associate Vice-President (Knowledge Exchange), delivered a talk titled “From Experience Management to Counseling Outcome”, which emphasised effective communication with people from diverse backgrounds.
Participants will undergo a free 5-hour training session covering counseling techniques, active listening, and empathy. Upon completion, participants will become “Community Mental Health Ambassadors”, and help care for the mental well-being of their family and friends while learning self-help strategies.
