14 October 2017
To enhance parents’ communication with HSMC and their understanding of the College, its latest development and students’ campus life, the Student Affairs Office organised the President’s Reception for Parents, Teachers and Students on 14 Oct 2017. It was also the finale programme of the New Students Orientation series. Over 250 parents, students and staff attended the event. The Reception began with the President’s welcoming remarks and introduction on the College’s latest development and the draft Strategic Plan 2018 – 2023, followed by sharing by student representative Connie Ma, who talked about her learning experience in the past three years. Prof P C Wong, Director of Information Technology, also gave his thoughts on “How to Support Your Children’s University Education and Career Development?”.
President Simon S M Ho addressed that by adopting the unique “Liberal + Professional” education model, the learning experience in HSMC is characterised by small class teaching and close teacher-student relation. The College puts quality teaching and students’ all-round development as its highest priorities, aiming at nurturing young talents with leadership skills and a caring heart. In order to provide holistic learning experiences to students, HSMC was the first higher education institution in Hong Kong to adopt a Residential College system to create a “living and learning” environment.
After the formal session, parents met with professors and students of different programmes to understand more about the learning support and opportunities, and campus life. Guided campus tours by student ambassadors were arranged.
