22 November 2024

“Flying in the Darkness”, directed by Lai Chun-ngai, a graduate of the BA (Hons) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology at the School of Communication (SCOM) of HSUHK, was selected as the opening film for the “2024 Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Film Festival”. The festival was held on 22 November 2024 at the Ocean Theatre in Tsim Sha Tsui. The film was produced by Dr Sobel Chan, Senior Lecturer at SCOM, with his guidance and supervision of SCOM students during the production.

Earlier this year, “Flying in the Darkness” was also selected for the Fight for Show-Future Micro Film Festival and Changemakers Roundtable. Additionally, faculty and students from SCOM hosted a forum segment titled “Dialogue Between Young Creators and Changemakers: How Film and Media Production Influence Life Satisfaction”, engaging in insightful discussions with the audience.

Dr Sobel Chan was also a finalist in the “Best Asian Film Producer Award” category at the prestigious World-Class Film Awards.
