26 April 2021
In appreciation of generous donations of benefactors and in recognition of outstanding achievements of students, a virtual Appreciation Ceremony for Scholarship Donors was co-organised on 26 April 2021 by the Student Affairs Office and the participants of the Outstanding Awardee Scheme.
Considering the pandemic and social distancing measures, the event was conducted through an online platform, gathering around 100 participants including donors, organisation representatives, HSUHK staff and students as well as families and friends of the awardees to share this joyful and memorable occasion. With the theme ‘Be Grateful’, the awardees expressed their gratitude to the donors by presenting a handmade plant terrarium as an appreciation gift. Every star in the plant terrarium represents an achievement in awardees’ lives, symbolising that the scholarship awardees are on their journey to success while they will reach a bigger and brighter ‘star’ in the future with the generous support from the donors.
In the welcoming remarks, President Simon S M Ho congratulated all awardees and expressed sincere gratitude to donors for their tremendous generosity towards the University, which helped nurture and inspire countless aspiring learners at the HSUHK. This year (2020/21), a total value of HK$16M has been secured for supporting over 600 students. President Ho advised the awardees to maximise the opportunities and resources available and contribute back to the University and the community in the future.
Dr Tom Fong, Vice-President (Organisational Development) and Chairman of Scholarship and Financial Assistance Committee, expressed a vote of thanks to all donors and supporters for their tireless support, in the face of the unprecedented challenges due to the global pandemic. HSUHK students were blessed to receive staunch support for their all-round development.
Ms Vanessa Cheung, Year 3 student from the BBA (Hons) in Corporate Governance Programme, was awarded the HKICS Foundation Subject Prizes (Corporate Governance), For Our Future Scholarship and BT Corporate Governance Limited Scholarship for her outstanding academic and non-academic achievements. On behalf of the scholarship awardees, she delivered a thank-you speech and shared her learning experiences at the HSUHK, expressing her heartfelt appreciation to the University and donors for their enduring support throughout the years.
