Module Description
This course provides students with a thorough understanding on aviation and shipping finance. The principles and knowledge on the financial processes and procedures associated with the aviation and shipping finance sector will be provided as a foundation of the module. This will include risk management, taxation issues, leasing structures and legal implications in relation to financing aircraft and vessel. Students will be further equipped with the fundamentals of the aviation and maritime market and their relevant finance modeling tools. This course provides in-depth knowledge for students who wish to develop their understanding and awareness of the aviation industry as well as to establish problem-solving skills relevant to real-life aircraft financing.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- examine the background and current needs in the field of aviation and shipping finance;
- acquire the concept and knowledge of the leasing, chartering and ship and aviation finance;
- analyse complex financial structuring in the context of aviation and shipping finance;
- integrate skills and tools in financing and modeling aviation and ship finance; and
- apply their knowledge of finance and valuation modeling tools in solving real-life examples of aviation and shipping finance deals.
