Module Description
The aim of this module is for students to acquire a rudimentary knowledge about the Korean language, including the alphabets (consonants/vowels), a limited number of Korean words and the basic grammatical rules. Students also learn to read, speak and write simple sentences in relation to daily life in a social setting. Students are encouraged to actively participate in interactive activities in class tutorials. At the end of the semester, students will have acquired simple social communicative skills in Korean.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- be aware of pronunciations of Korean words reasonably and know greetings;
- use counting units for various items and expressions of time and location;
- use polite pattern, - 아 / 어요 in statements and questions; and
- identify basic grammatical features and practice for appropriate use such as case particles of Korean language.
