Module Description
Queuing systems have a wide range of applications in various areas. This module aims to provide students with the essential simulation techniques which are widely adopted in business intelligence. Students will be able to understand basic principles of queuing theory, simulate queuing systems and evaluate simulation outputs. Real life applications are provided to illustrate the methodologies. Students are also required to present their findings to their peers and professors in a professional manner.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- understand basic principles of queuing theory;
- apply analytical techniques and simulation models to solve queuing systems;
- evaluate simulation outputs via statistical techniques; and
- interpret and present the results in a scientific and concise manner; and work effectively in a team and solve real-life problems.
