Module Description
The aim of this module is to help Year 1 students to acquire a basic understanding of university education, general education and learning, to examine preliminarily the diverse nature and approaches of various academic disciplines and the inter-connectedness thereof, and to burgeon in students an intellectual ability of inquiries related to contemporary issues of the 21st century.
The format of this module is a combination of lectures, tutorials and a guided project on a contemporary issue.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- identify characteristics of university education, general education and learning
- develop an awareness of diversity in intellectual inquiries
- describe preliminarily the intellectual differences of and inter-connectedness between disciplinary fields from their concentration position
- intellectually examine current social, political and cultural issues in Hong Kong and the world from different disciplines.
