Module Description
This module aims to provide a solid foundation in digital multimedia covering the basic principles of digital representation and the combining of different media types to constitute multimedia content. Students are expected to understand the issues concerning human perception of sound and visual information and to acquire relevant knowledge and skills in recognising various audio, image and video formats and familiarising themselves with the use of digital media tools.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- describe the issues concerning the human perception of sound and visual information;
- explain the fundamental principles of digital representation of multimedia;
- recognise the various commonly used audio, image and video formats; and
- use digital media tools to create multimedia information.
