Module Description
This module is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills of current affairs documentary production. Students will be trained to be a critical journalist and a good storyteller. High quality and award winning programmes and documentaries will be shown in lectures to illustrate both the concepts and production techniques involved. Much emphasis will be placed on practices. Students are required to form small groups to work on their own current affairs documentary projects, the production of which will be closely guided throughout with professional standards.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. explain the brief history and the present sate of current affairs documentary;


  2. demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the process and techniques in documentary production;


  3. discuss the ethical issues in current affairs documentary; and


  4. conduct a project of directing a current affairs documentary with relevant script-writing, filming and editing skills.
