Art and music events organised to promote Chinese culture

The “Liberal Arts@HSUHK Chinese Culture Promotion Programme”, organised by the Department of Chinese, held two events recently to promote Chinese culture on campus.

Dr Chui Pui-chee, renowned Hong Kong ink artist, was invited to conduct an “Ink Painting Workshop” on 17 October 2024.  During the workshop, Dr Chui explained the basic techniques of ink painting and demonstrated how to depict subjects such as bamboo, orchids, shrimp, and crabs.

Another event, “Music in Martial Arts Community: Martial Arts and Chinese Medicine” was held on 18 October 2024. Dr Chris Chan, a practitioner of Chinese medicine, was invited to explain the relationship between martial arts and theories of Chinese medicine. Hong Kong’s renowned Chinese ensemble group, The Windpipe Music Ensemble, played several pieces including some TV show themes based on martial art novels.
