Two teams of SCOM students got a Silver Award and a Merit Award respectively in the tertiary institution category of the 22nd Consumer Rights Reporting Awards.

A team of students from the Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Honours) (BJC) programme, namely Ms Queenie Ng, Ms Tsz-ching Wu, Ms Darling Pun, Ms Choi-wan Liu and Mr Cheuk-leung Lam, won the Bronze Award in the ‘Campus Category’ of the 21st Consumer Rights Reporting Awards. Their entry ‘Rebates from Supermarkets?’ was selected out of 203 entries from 26 media and higher education institutions.
The Awards, jointly organised by the Consumer Council, the Hong Kong Journalists Association and the Hong Kong Press Photographers Association since 2001, aims to celebrate and promote journalistic excellence in consumer rights issues and concerns.

Students of the School of Communication (SCOM) won a total of 3 awards out of over 100 submissions in the Tertiary Student Category in Lions Clubs’ Video Production Competition of Eyesight (獅瞳傳愛 獅瞳傳愛). The Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 29 May 2021.
With their outstanding video themed ‘Cataract’, Mr Eric Kay, Ms Suet-ying Lam, Mr Chun-yuen Kam, Ms Hiu-nam Yuen and Ms Wing-sin Lo garnered the 1st Runner-up in the contest. And videos ‘Number One Eye Health Killer in Hong Kong – Glaucoma’ filmed by Ms Shuk-man Yam, Ms Ka-ming Tsang, Mr Tsz-hei Hung, Mr Man-hung Lan and Mr Hon-lung Yung; and ‘Dr Eye Q’s 100,000 Myths about Shortsightedness’ filmed by Ms Wing-tung Au, Ms Suet-ching Chaung, Ms Chun-kei Ha and Ms Hoi-ying Kwong both got the Merit Awards.
This territory-wide competition aims to promote eye care and to raise public awareness of eye health through creative short videos.

Students from the School of Communication (SCOM) of HSUHK won a total of 4 awards in the 2020 Campus News Awards (CNA) organised by China Daily. More than 700 submissions by over 2000 students from various higher education institutions in the cross-strait four regions were received in this year’s competition. The awarded entries were selected by a panel of around 90 judges which comprised political leaders, business elites, academics and veteran journalists from the regions.
The SCOM students received the 1st runner-ups in ‘Best in Tech News Reporting (English)’ and ‘Best in News Video Reporting (English)’, and 2nd runner-ups in ‘Best in Headline Writing (Chinese)’ and ‘Best in Headline Writing (English)’. Professor Scarlet Tso, Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Affairs) and Dean of the School of Communication, said that the awards were a recognition for students’ efforts from the industry and the public, for they were able to produce that many outstanding works despite the complicated pandemic environment.
The SCOM Students have been participating in the CNA since 2014 and they have won a total of 36 awards over the years. This is a demonstration of their outstanding performance and high academic levels in the journalism and communication field in the cross-strait four regions.

A team of four Year-4 students from the Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Hons) programme of the School of Communication (SCOM), namely Ms Cheuk-sze Chan, Ms Hiu-tung Chan, Ms Kam-ling Choi and Ms Yuen-yung Ng, won the Professional Market Analysis Award in the Hong Kong Creative PR Competition 2020. The Award was presented to the students at the Award Presentation Ceremony held on 26 September 2020 as a recognition of their efforts and professionalism.
The competition, hosted by the Hong Kong Creative PR Competition Committee in partnership with the Business-School Partnership Programme of the Education Bureau, lasted from November 2019 to April 2020. Students who joined the competition were required to conduct reliable market research and present to enterprises an effective and feasible public relations proposal, including manuscript writing, media relations management, production of promotional materials and organisation of promotional activities.

The Rotary Club of Mandarin Hong Kong established three scholarships of HK$10,000 each for the School of Communication in the academic year 2019/20 to recognise students with outstanding academic performance and distinguished service records.
Among all impressive applicants, Ka-hei Chan and Chloe Ling, both year 4 students from the Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Honours) (BJC) programme, and Hong-ting Chan, a year 3 student from the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology (BA-CMCT) programme, stood out and were selected as the awardees of the scholarships. They attended the celebration dinner hosted by the Rotary Club of Mandarin Hong Kong on 8 June 2020 where they delivered a thank-you note.
The School of Communication highly appreciates the continuous support given by the Rotary Club of Mandarin Hong Kong. The School believes that the scholarships would encourage the awardees to strive for excellence in academic pursuits and at the same time give back to society by offering help to the people in need.

Students from the School of Communication (SCOM) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) clinched a total of 9 awards in the 2019 Campus Newspaper Awards hosted by China Daily, with their works outperformed 1,009 submissions from 50 universities from the cross strait four regions. Professor Scarlet Tso, HSUHK Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Affairs) and Dean of School of Communication, led representatives of the awardees and SCOM faculty members to the Awards Presentation Ceremony held on 1 December 2019. She said the encouraging results showed the industry recognition to the efforts of SCOM students.
The universities participated in the 2019 Campus Newspaper Awards included the Tsinghua University, the Nanjing University, the Sun Yat-sen University, the Beijing Foreign Studies University, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University, the City University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Shue Yan University, the Chu Hai College of Higher Education, the University of Macau, Taiwan’s Fu Jen Catholic University and Taiwan’s Shih Hsin University, etc. A panel of over 70 judges which comprised political leaders, business elites, academics and veteran journalists from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan ultimately selected 84 entries as the award winners. The awards presentation ceremony attracted some 200 participants comprising the teachers, students and media representatives from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
The awards grabbed by SCOM students include the Champion in Best in Tech News Reporting (English), the Champion in Best in Headline Writing (English), the first runner-up in Best in Tech News Reporting (Chinese), the first runner-up in Best in Feature Writing (Chinese), the first runner-up in Best in News Writing (English), the first runner-up in Best in News Video Reporting (English), and the second runner-ups respectively in Best in Feature Photography, Best in News Video Reporting (English) and Best in Features Video Reporting (English).

Consumer Rights Reporting Awards was organised by the Conusmer Council, Hong Kong Journalists Associations and Hong Kong Press Photographers Association. A team formed by five BJC students received the Gold Award in the “Campus” category of the 18th Consumer Rights Reporting Awards programme. The team members were Lam Yik, Shum Ka Ngai, Tsang King Man, Tsoi Hiu Fai and Wan Hok Chung. The theme of their winning entry was illegal food outlets at Kwai Chung Plaza, which posed threats to food safety, fire risk and hygiene.

Campus Newspaper Awards 2017 is an annual event organised by China Daily Asia Pacific since 2012.
This year, the number of entries for the Campus Newspaper Awards 2017 exceeded 600, which were from 28 colleges from Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan and Macau. In the past few years, SCOM students also achieved excellent results in this competition.

Sustainable Consumption Awards & Silver Award (Campus Category)

BJC Year 3 students received two awards in the 17th Consumer Rights Reporting Awards programme, with Lam Man Yi being the Silver Award winner in the “Campus” category and a seven-member team being the champion in the “Sustainable Consumption Awards – Campus” category, they are Mung I Shan, Ip Yan Tung, Kwok Che Kwun, Chow Ming Shing, Cheung Jung Yeung, Chan Tsz Ting and Keung Ka Yin. Themes of their winning entries are legislation on food nutrition labels and difficulties in promoting the use of stainless steel straws respectively. This annual competition has been jointly organised by the Consumer Council, the Hong Kong Journalists Association and Hong Kong Press Photographers Association since 2001 to pay tribute to journalistic excellence in consumer rights issues and concerns. The “Campus” category was introduced in 2015.

Hong Kong Creative PR Competition (HKCPRC) was hosted by the Organizing Committee of HKCPRC and supported by the Business-School Partnership Programme (BSPP) under the Education Bureau (EDB). It was the first ever post-secondary level PR competition in Hong Kong. The competition focused on Public Relations and Campaign Planning, which emphasised 3 elements, including “Creativity”, “Practicality” and “Interaction”.

BJC Year 3 student, CHIN Hoi Tung Jocelyn, won the Best Photograph of the Year Award 2014 among junior reporters at the third Junior Reporter Awards organised by South China Morning Post Young Post. The awards ceremony was held at Hong Kong Disneyland on 24 January 2015.
Jocelyn has taken her beautiful photo of the old Supreme Court Building in Central in order to promote the message “things end but memories last forever” to viewers.

傳播學院學生於獅子會舉辦的「獅瞳傳愛」短片創作大賽中,在超過100 份作品中脫穎而出,於大專組勇奪三個獎項。頒獎典禮已於2021 年5 月29 日舉行。
憑着其出色影片作品「白內障」,祁樂加同學、林雪瑩同學、甘振源同學、袁曉楠同學及羅穎倩同學在比賽中獲頒亞軍。而任淑文同學、曾嘉銘同學、洪祉熙同學、藍文鴻同學及翁漢瓏同學拍攝的「香港頭號眼科殺手青光眼」,與及歐詠童同學、張雪晴同學、夏俊淇同學及鄺海盈同學拍攝的「Eye Q 博士之近視十萬個迷思」亦取得優異獎。
是項全港性比賽旨在透過創意短片推廣護眼訊息,及提高公眾對眼睛與視力健康的關注。

恒大傳播學院學生於《中國日報》舉辦的「2020大學新聞獎」榮獲四個大奬,成績驕人。是次比賽收到來自兩岸四地二千多位高等院校學生逾700份作品,再由近90位區內政界、商界、學界及傳媒界組成的專業評委選出優勝作品。
傳播學院學生分別奪得最佳科技新聞報道(英文組)亞軍、最佳新聞視頻(英文組)亞軍、最佳標題(中文組)季軍及最佳標題(英文組)季軍。協理副校長(傳訊及公共事務)及傳播學院院長曹虹教授表示,同學能夠在疫情持續的複雜情況下完成多個出色作品,獲獎是業界及社會大眾對他們努力付出的肯定。
自2014年至今,傳播學院學生獲獎累計36項,充分反映他們在兩岸四地的新聞傳播領域上出色的表現和學術水平。

四位來自傳播學院新聞及傳播(榮譽)學士課程的四年級同學組成參賽隊伍,於全港創意公關大賽2020 中奪得專業市場分析獎。他們分別為陳卓詩同學、陳曉彤同學、蔡金伶同學和吳宛蓉同學。頒獎禮於2020 年9 月26 日舉行,以表揚同學的努力及專業表現。
是項比賽於2019 年11 月至2020 年4 月期間舉行,由全港創意公關大賽籌委會主辦,並由教育局的商校合作計劃協辦。參賽同學須透過市場調查為企業訂立有效及可行的公關方案,內容包括撰寫文稿、管理傳媒關係、製作宣傳品及籌辦推廣活動。

香港華語扶輪社於2019/20學年為傳播學院設立了三個各港幣一萬元的獎學金,以表揚學業成績優異及社會服務紀錄傑出的同學。
在眾多優秀的申請人當中,新聞及傳播(榮譽)學士課程四年級的陳嘉希及凌穎兒,與及融合媒體及傳播科技(榮譽)文學士三年級的陳康婷,最終脫穎而出獲頒獎學金。獲獎同學於2020年6月8日出席由香港華語扶輪社舉辦的慶祝晚宴,並於晚宴中致謝辭。
傳播學院非常感謝香港華語扶輪社一直以來對學院的支持,並相信是次頒授的獎學金能鼓勵同學們繼續努力,在學業上全力以赴的同時,亦不忘積極回饋社會,幫助社會上有需要的人士。

香港恒生大學(恒大)傳播學院學生參加由中國日報舉辦的2019年「第八屆校園學報新聞獎」,在兩岸四地50所大學、1009份作品當中脫穎而出,榮獲九個奬項,成績令人振奮!恒大協理副校長(傳訊及公共事務)及傳播學院院長曹虹教授率領獲獎學生代表及老師出席於12月1日舉行的頒獎禮,她表示是次獲獎證明社會及業界對恒大傳播學院學生的學習成果予以充分肯定及支持。
「第八屆校園學報新聞獎」參與的大學包括:清華大學、南京大學、中山大學、北京外國語大學、香港恒生大學、香港中文大學、香港浸會大學、香港城市大學、香港樹仁大學、珠海學院、澳門大學、台灣輔仁大學、台灣世新大學等,由70位來自中國內地、香港、澳門、台灣的政界、商界、學界及傳媒界的社會賢達擔任評委,最終評選出84份獲獎作品。近200位來自中國內地、香港、澳門、台灣的師生和新聞業界人士出席頒獎禮,場面熱鬧。

Campus Newspaper Awards is an annual event organised by China Daily Asia Pacific since 2012.
This year, 724 entries were received from 38 universities from mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong under 26 award categories. The entries were evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of journalism professors and media veterans.

Consumer Rights Reporting Awards was organised by the Conusmer Council, Hong Kong Journalists Associations and Hong Kong Press Photographers Association. A team formed by five BJC students received the Gold Award in the “Campus” category of the 18th Consumer Rights Reporting Awards programme. The team members were Lam Yik, Shum Ka Ngai, Tsang King Man, Tsoi Hiu Fai and Wan Hok Chung. The theme of their winning entry was illegal food outlets at Kwai Chung Plaza, which posed threats to food safety, fire risk and hygiene.

新聞及傳播課程三年級學生於「第十七屆消費權益新聞報道獎」獲得兩大獎項。
林敏怡勇奪「校園組」銀獎,得獎作品為《食物營養標籤立法》。由蒙漪珊、葉欣彤、郭芷均、鄒銘城、張頌揚、陳紫婷及姜珈彥組成的七人隊伍於「可持續消費獎 – 校園組」勝出,得獎作品為《環保飲管》。一年一度的「消費權益新聞報道獎」自2001年起由消費者委員會、香港記者協會及香港攝影記者協會合辦,以表揚及鼓勵本港傳媒關注消費權益。大會於2015年增設「校園組」。

Hong Kong Creative PR Competition (HKCPRC) was hosted by the Organizing Committee of HKCPRC and supported by the Business-School Partnership Programme (BSPP) under the Education Bureau (EDB). It was the first ever post-secondary level PR competition in Hong Kong. The competition focused on Public Relations and Campaign Planning, which emphasised 3 elements, including “Creativity”, “Practicality” and “Interaction”.

Shatin Arts and Cultural Promotion Project 2014/2015 (Project), co-organised by the School of Communication of Hang Seng Management College and Shatin Arts & Culture Promotion Committee, aims at enhancing public understanding of the history and traditional culture of Shatin by promoting the Shatin arts and cultural events through a collection of promotion tactics, including a video and a booklet themed “沙田人情味” (“Traditional Taste of Shatin”) prepared by students of the School of Communication.

Jocelyn received her award from Ms Susan Ramsay, Young Post Editor at the ceremony
BJC Year 3 student, CHIN Hoi Tung Jocelyn, won the Best Photograph of the Year Award 2014 among junior reporters at the third Junior Reporter Awards organised by South China Morning Post Young Post. The awards ceremony was held at Hong Kong Disneyland on 24 January 2015.
Jocelyn has taken her beautiful photo of the old Supreme Court Building in Central in order to promote the message “things end but memories last forever” to viewers.
