1 April 2015
Our heartfelt thanks to Professor Anselmo Reyes who came to our College as a guest speaker for a professional talk in the Department of Supply Chain Management on 1 April 2015 (Wednesday). The topic of the seminar was “Reflections on Recent Decisions of the Admiralty Court in Hong Kong”. Students who are taking the module “Carriage of Goods Law in Hong Kong and China” attended the talk and participated in a maritime arbitration moot court. Professor Reyes guided the students step-by-step through the whole arbitration process. The case selected was a dispute settlement between an iron core trader and a carrier, one of the recent decisions of the Admiralty Court in Hong Kong. Students played the role of claimants, arbitrators and respondents respectively. “The role play has strengthened our understanding of litigation and arbitration processes. It’s interesting and interactive!” a student said after the talk. “It’s a great experience to take part in the moot court!” another student commented. A group photo was taken at the end of the talk.
