“BEAM Plus” adopts an internationally recognised environmental assessment scheme with rigorous standard based on six different aspects, namely “Indoor Environmental Quality” (IEQ), “Site Aspects” (SA), “Energy Use” (EU), “Material Aspects” (MA), “Water Use” (WU) and “Innovations and Additions” (IA). HSMC has been highly evaluated in all aspects with IEQ and EU obtaining excellent evaluations and IA receiving full score. According to the “BEAM Plus” report, HSMC is commended for the remarkably high proportion of greenery and the high Solar Reflectance Index material used on the rooftop of the building which can effectively reduce temperature rise under the sun and the Urban Heat Island effect (UHI). With systematic environment management planning and monitoring, the impact of the building to the surrounding area is lowered to a minimum.
