Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) is very proud to announce that our Bachelor of Business Administration in Supply Chain Management Programme (BBA-SCM) (Honours) has been selected by the Education Bureau of HKSAR Government to join the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP).
Starting from the academic year 2015/16, our BBA-SCM Programme will be subsidised by the HKSAR Government for three consecutive cohorts of students. It is the first time in Hong Kong for an undergraduate programme in the SCM field run by a self-financing institution to receive Government’s subsidy.
The demand for high calibre supply chain professionals is surging, because supply chain management is crucial for companies to stay competitive in the current complex, dynamic and globalised business environment. However, the supply from existing educational institutions is lagging behind. To fulfill the demand for talents, HSMC’s Department of Supply Chain Management has launched the BBA-SCM in 2010.
Due to the prosperity of international trading and IT advancement, logistics companies not only involve in transportation of goods/ semi-finished products, but the provision of value-adding services. These include co-ordination among parties within a supply chain, information control, quality assurance and financial flows management. Our programme aims to equip students with professional knowledge and skills that are integral to middle- and front-line management in the field.
Students enrolled in the BBA-SCM Programme benefit from high teaching standards of expert professors, state-of-the-art learning resources, excellent network with potential employers in the field, and strong support and recognition from the government and industry.
The Department of Supply Chain Management emphasises on small-class teaching, ensuring high levels of interaction between academics and students. All full-time SCM faculty members earned doctorate degrees from prestigious local or overseas universities, and they have extensive teaching, research and industry experience as well as strong industry connections.
In addition to the campus, computing labs and language centres, SCM’s students have full access to Decision Sciences Technology Laboratory (DST Lab) – a facility with creative layout and advanced software and hardware. Our laboratory was designed to facilitate students’ research projects and the development of hands-on experience.
The SCM Programme aims to nurture outstanding supply chain management and business talents. In line with the trends in the Greater China and the international market development, we have designed a comprehensive curriculum covering a wide spectrum of supply chain management disciplines with the integration of business and general education. Based upon a close partnership with the industry, we have partnered with a number of prestigious companies (e.g. China South City (Shenzhen), Li & Fung Group, JOS, Kerry Logistics, HSBC, etc.) to provide our students with internship opportunities in which they can gain work experience in operations and solidify their professional knowledge and skills prior to graduation. In addition, our students are encouraged to join the “Mentorship Scheme”. A group of industry professionals acts as mentors to coach our students and to share their working experience to facilitate students’ future career development.
An Information Session will be held on 6 August 2014 to provide more details about SSSDP scheme and to give a brief introduction on our two programmes: Bachelor of Business Administration in Supply Chain Management and Bachelor of Management Science and Information Management.
