HSMC Held Groundbreaking Ceremony for Campus Expansion

In order to facilitate the campus expansion, a Groundbreaking Ceremony of New Teaching Block and Lecture Theater of Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) was held on 8 May 2012. Mrs. Margaret Leung Ko May Yee, JP, Chairman of the Board of Governors of HSMC was invited to officiate the ceremony. College Council members including Mr. Martin Tam Tin Fong, Dr. Ho Tzu Leung and Mr. Samuel Lam Sau Tong, Mr. Robert Lam from Wong & Ouyang (HK) Limited, Mr. Derek Zen from Kaden Construction Limited attended as honored guests.

President Dr Chui Hong Sheung expressed his warmest welcome by giving a speech at the ceremony. He said: “In 2010, HSMC was founded under the leadship of Chairman Leung and members of College Council. Last September, HSMC had successfully gained the approval for a plot of land (Site A) from the government.” Dr Chui estimated that site A would be completed on or before the coming September. “Site B, D, F had been approved one after another, which means that HSMC is stepping forward towards the goal of being an outstanding private university.” He added.

Chairman Leung pointed out: “The construction of new buildings has brought about the concepts of advancedness, environmental-friendliness and safety. It provides a good exchange platform for our staff and students.” She believed that all the staff and students should unite together for a beautiful future of HSMC. 

The Groundbreaking Ceremony began after the speeches by Dr Chui and Chairman Leung. Mr. Martin Tam, Dr. Ho Tzu Leung, Mr. Samuel Lam, Mr. Robert Lam and Mr. Derek Zen together with Mrs. Margaret Leung hosted the ceremony by brandishing golden shovels. They later cut a roast pig to wish the project to go well.

Councilors from Shatin District council, representatives from universities and secondary schools, reporters from several local media and hundreds of HSMC staff and students came along to witness and record the cheerful moment as well.
