HSMC Held "Tree Plantation Day"
In order to facilitate the greening project of the New Academic Building- Block A, “Tree Plantation Day” of the Hang Sang Management College (HSMC) was held on 24 Oct 2012 outside block A. College Council member Mr. Martin Tam Tin Fong, President Dr. Chui Hong Sheung, many other senior executives of HSMC and representatives from the Student Union and student associations attended the event.
President Dr. Chui Hong Sheung stated that the successful completion of site A is attributable to the great support from Mr. Tam and other party concerned. The completion of Block A represents that HSMC reached a milestone. More buildings with advanced research and learning facilities will be completed in the future and it enables the college to continue to step forward towards the goal of being an outstanding private university.
Mr. Tam used bamboo as an example to encourage students. He stated: “Bamboo represents ambition and an indomitable spirit. Bamboo leafs seem to be narrower than a typical leaf, but it provides a larger surface area, which facilitates a better photosynthetic effect.” He described the plants in the college as the “Soft-Hardware”, which could reduce the negative effect from environment pollution and be beneficial to students’ health. He hoped that such a horticulture could make the college a better place for students.
The tree plantation activity began after the speech. Mr. Tam, Dr. Chui and student representatives planted trees with the golden shovels, with the good wish of a prosperous future for HSMC.
