Hang Seng Management College and Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management Join Hands in Organizing First-Ever University Student ETF Investment Competition in Hong Kong
Organized by the Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) and sponsored by Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, the “HSMC – Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management ETF Investment Competition 2013” (ETF refers to Exchange Traded Fund) officially started on 2 September 2013. Prof. Gilbert Fong, Acting President, Prof. Raymond So, Dean of School of Business, Dr. Karen Chan and Prof. Lee Tien Sheng, Vice President, Prof. Scarlet Tso and Prof. Lau Ho Fuk, Associate Vice-President and more than 10 media organizations attended the event.
This is the first ETF investment competition in Hong Kong focused on investor education. It aims to educate Hong Kong youngsters to adopt proper investment attitude and method in formulating and achieving realistic investment goals. After a few selections, 15 students were picked and divided into 3 groups. With a virtual capital of HK$500,000, each team has to formulate an appropriate investment strategy for one of the three celebrities – Chan Yik Hei, “The Son of the Star”, famous actor Chan Kam Hung and Shek Sau.
Professor Gilbert Fong, Acting President gave a welcoming speech and said, “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management for their great effort in sharing the same belief in promoting wealth management education among young people and foster a new generation of financial elites equipped with both theoretical know-how and practical experience.”
Prof. Raymond So mentioned, “HSMC has long been committed to encouraging students to take part in different kinds of research and academic activities to broaden their horizons with a view to bringing quality advancement and innovative thinking to business education. As evidenced by the overwhelming response to the competition, the younger generation is hoping to build a more solid foundation for their own future investments by endeavoring to gain a better understanding of the different investment products available in the market.”
