Hong Kong Marathon 2017 was held on 12 February 2017. HSMC had more than 100 students and staff to participate in this mega-scale sport sevents. Among them, more than 80% runners to compete in ten kilometers race,sixteen runners to take part in the semi-marathon and two endurance runners challenged the full marathon race!
To better equip runners for this important day, the Student Affairs Office arranged a series of training, lectures and race pack pick-up services before the competition. A few days before the event, President Simon SM HO and Acting Vice-President Tom Fong (Organisational Development) together with the Wellness Residential College Masters, Dr Fung Kai Yeung, Paul and tutors to present the HSMC flag to the HSMC Runners to encourage them to make use of the spirit of iGPS (http://sao.hsmc.edu.hk/home/igps) and prepare for every obstacle, challenge themselves.
On the day of the competition, around 40 Volunteers from the RC Wellness College gathered at 3:00am, to set up a booth to provide luggage storage services and be the cheering team near the finishing line. Runners can also collect a specially designed hoodie when they finished the race!
This year, the temperature and humidity on the race day was excellent for outdoor event, encouraging more personal best. They also shared glorious moments at the photo albums on PE Unit’s website. PE Unit will arrange the awards ceremony later to honor the best runner in the HSMC teams. We would like to thank the support from staff and students, in particular, Lam Man Yi,Eugenia, a student from BJC who designed the running uniform and hoodies,Chinese Recreation Club to provide baggage storage booth place. Last but not the least, Ryoden Development Charity Trust to sponsor all the expenses.
