The first-ever Alumni Homecoming 2016 was successfully held on HSMC campus from 16 July to 17 July 2016. Over 80 participants, including alumni, their friends and family members, HSMC staff members and students, gathered for an enjoyable weekend together.
To update participatingalumni on the latest development of their alma mater, AAAO organised a guided campustour by student ambassadors. During the tour, the alumni had a chance to familiarisethemselves with the HSMC campus by visiting traditional classrooms and lecturerooms at Block M as well as at the recently-completed facilities, including S H HoAcademic Building, Lee Quo Wei Academic Building and HSMC Plaza.
The HSMC Jockey ClubResidential Colleges were opened for occupancy in September 2015 with the themeof “A Living and Learning Community”. Arrangements were made for participatingalumni who wanted a taste of modern residential life to stay at the WellnessCollege, and for those who preferred a walk down memory lane to stay at the OldHall.
At the BBQ dinner, AssociateVice-President Ada Leung (Advancement and Industry Liaisons) expressed herappreciation for the support of all participants andtook the opportunity to greet returning alumni and brief them on the latestprogress of HSMC. Then, Mr Ken Wong, an alumnus, was invited to sing at the gathering, followed by more singingperformances by Mr Michael Poon, another alumnus, and Ms Cynthia Chan, a lecturer of theChinese Department. Over breakfast the nextmorning, Mr Leung Ka Keung, Chairman of HSMC/HSSC Alumni Association (AA), encouragedalumni and students to support HSMC by joining the Alumni Association. Ms MariaKwok, Manager of Residential Colleges, also took the chance to introduce themission, facilities and features of the RC. The participants of the 2-day homecomingevent enjoyed the variety of activities including yoga class, pioneering-ballista building,and other sports activities.
