Shatin Arts and Cultural Promotion Briefing Session
TheSchool of Communication, Hang Seng Management College joined hands with ShatinArts & Culture Promotion Committee in promoting the Shatin arts andcultural events for the third time in a row this year. With the dedicatedeffort of students and the strong support from the School of Communication, theShatin Arts and Cultural Promotion Project (Project) showcased a collection ofpromotion materials, including a video and a booklet themed “沙田九約太平清醮” (TaiPing Ching Chiu Festival of Nine Sub-districts of Shatin).
Aceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of the Project was held by the Schoolof Communication and Shatin Arts & Culture Promotion Committee on 4February 2016. Officiating at the ceremony were Mr Gary Yeung, Chairman ofShatin Arts & Culture Promotion Committee, President Simon S M Ho, HSMC,and Dean Scarlet Tso, School of Communication.
In his welcoming remarks, President Ho said thatHSMC could play a major role in cultural inheritance. Adopting the unique“Liberal + Professional” education model, the College encourages students notto focus only on their professional training but also to learn to care forother people and the society. Through this Project, students knew more aboutthe cultural characteristics of the local community and helped to pass tofuture generations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Gary Yeung expressedhis wish of turning this Tai Ping Ching Chiu Festival into one of the conservation projects in HongKong by using the modern techniques of recording and documentation.
Dean Scarlet Tso remarked that this Projectis a platform which supports cultural inheritance. It also offered opportunitiesfor students to gain experience in shooting, interview and writing skills.
